Traversing through the rugged Himalayan trails, often decorated with mountains, Sherpa villages, prayer flags, and monasteries, trekking to Everest Base Camp is a lifetime experience for those whose dreams soar high above the clouds.
Embarking the journey with the most adventurous flight to the airstrip in Lukla, the trail gently follows through famous Sherpa settlements, before reaching the foothills of the world's highest mountain.
Everest region is home to the highest peaks in the world, including four mountains above 8000 meters — Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and Makalu. The 15-days Everest Base Camp Comfort Trek combines the prospect of high Himalayas along with the opportunity to witness the iconic Sherpa culture, their lifestyle, and their famed hospitality.
Take the challenge to hike to Kala Patthar, the highest landmark in the EBC Trek. At the elevation of 5,545 meters, the viewpoint provides you the chance to relish close-up panorama of the jagged pinnacles, including Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Pumori, and Changtse.
Our 15-days Everest Base Camp Trek itinerary is rigorously designed to provide you the unforgettable Himalayan experience with proper acclimatization days.
The adventure of Everest Base Camp Trek begins with the most exhilarating flight to Tenzing Hillary Airport in Lukla — one of the world's most extreme airports. The 40- minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla combines the thrilling adventure that will last a lifetime with the glorious mountain views that are unmatched anywhere else across the world. However, one thing that you should be aware of flying into Luka is that the flights to this airstrip are highly dependent on the weather. As the mountain weather is unpredictable, there are high chances of flight delays or even flight cancelation in worse weather conditions.
Upon reaching Lukla, the trek begins in a narrow trail alongside the Dudh Koshi River towards Phakding. On the next day, the trail further passes alongside the Dukh Koshi River to enter the Sagarmatha National Park. After walking past several tiny settlements and cross a few high suspension bridges, we reach the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar. We take a day off at Namche Bazaar to acclimatize with the higher elevations. After departing from the colorful town of Namche, we head towards the village of Tengboche, where we get to visit the largest monastery of the Khumbu region.
The trail now begins to get slightly more difficult as we head towards Dingboche village at 4,410 meters. At such elevation, most trekkers start to feel the altitude. So, we will spend a couple of nights at Dingboche to acclimatize in the thin air. Further, the route heads uphill towards Lobuche, the small village that is located next to the foot of Khumbu glacier. Trekking through the rocky terrain from Lobuche, the trail passes through Gorak Shep towards the Everest Base Camp. After spending a while at the base camp, we retrace the route back to Gorak Shep for the overnight stay. Early the next morning, we head back to the trail and hike up to the vantage point of Kala Patthar. After witnessing the glorious sunrise over the summit of some of the highest mountains in the world, we trek downhill towards the village of Pheriche. After this, we retrace the route back to Namche Bazaar and then to Lukla before flying to Kathmandu to conclude the trek.
Generally, autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May) are considered as the two most favorable times to go on Everest Base Camp Comfort Trek. Weather conditions during these two seasons are moderate and stable, which is excellent for trekking. The sky also remains nice and clear, offering marvelous glimpses of the surrounding Himalayas.
During the winter season (December to February), the trail of Everest Base Camp is covered in snow, making the trek even more challenging. And, during monsoon (June to August), the trails are often wet and slippery, making it the least favorable time to go trekking in Nepal.
